Routes can change each day depending on vehicle issues, weather and road conditions, and events outside the control of the County. Material must be out by 7AM to avoid being missed, collection vehicles only run the route once.
The County cannot guarantee your garbage and recycling will be collected if the routes change and your street is collected earlier than normal. To avoid being missed, have your material out by 7AM the day of your collection.
Please set out your material no more than one (1) meter away from the curb or at the end of your driveway so it doesn’t block the sidewalk for pedestrians and/or snow removal equipment. If you have no sidewalk, your material should be set at the end of your property.
Your garbage and recycling should still be placed at the bottom of your driveway or at the curb. It should not be placed on a snowbank or sidewalks where it will not be collected for health and safety reasons. At the edge of the driveway is safest to avoid snow plows as well as cars.
If your material was set out after 7 a.m., or a sticker was left by the driver, please bring your material back inside and place it out on your next collection day, after the issues have been addressed. Sometimes, crews cannot complete collections on the designated day or may miss a street. If this happens in your area, please bring your material back inside and set it out again at 7 a.m. the following day. If you have questions, please call 519-539-9800 ext. 3159 for the Waste Management Department.
Collection changes or interruptions can happen at any time – for weather, road closures or other issues. Stay updated with wasteline.ca, www.oxfordcounty.ca, and download the Wasteline app.
Oxford County collects garbage and recycling weekly from roughly 26,000 households across its six participating municipalities co-collected in the same truck (divider in the middle to separate material) to reduce transportation costs..
