Our services

The Archives staff provide both an information service to Oxford County's municipal government and research access to the general public.

Research

Research

Our research facilities and reference library are publicly accessible and contain numerous resources and records relating to the history of Oxford County. Archives staff are available to aid patrons in their research and provide suggestions on which resources will be the most useful to you. Visit our “Research” page to learn more.


Collections

Collections

Our archival collection includes municipal records relating to the administrative, financial, legal and political history of Oxford County. The Oxford County Archives’ holdings also incorporate privately donated records, many of which contain genealogical information on local families, and other intuitional records. Photocopying / photograph reproduction

Depending on the fragility and stability of the original document, reproduction may be allowed. This will be the responsibility of the archives staff. Please note that there is a fee for this service.

Copyright clearance is the responsibility of the researcher.
Photocopying will be conducted on-site but photo reproduction will be conducted off-site and may take several weeks to complete.

Educational Programming

Educational programming

Outreach and educational programming are one of the many services we offer at the archives. We currently provide school programs for a variety of secondary level curriculums and subjects which allow students to make meaningful connections to local culture and heritage. Archives staff also deliver seminars and workshops related to Archives and Oxford County history upon request. Please see our “Educational Programming” page for more information.


Paper conservation and repair

Staff archivists offer professional paper conservation and preservation services at competitive prices.

This work includes dry or wet surface cleaning, deacidification, paper repair and mylar encapsulation.

Oxford County Archives on Social Media

The Oxford County Archives has been working hard to make our records more accessible. We regularly post updates about or programs and services on the Oxford County Facebook page and share content on the County's YouTube channel.
