Oxford County seeks engaged citizens for Accessibility Advisory Committee

Four opportunities available for residents who want to support greater awareness and sensitivity around accessibility in the community

If you would like to contribute more to your community, Oxford County is looking for four (4) engaged citizens to join the Accessibility Advisory Committee until 2022.

As a committee member, you will provide advice and recommendations to County Council on matters that affect our entire community as it relates to accessibility, including providing input to develop a Multi-Year Accessibility Plan which will work to identify current barriers and actions that could be taken to measure and remove barriers.

The goals of the Accessibility Advisory Committee are as follows:

  • To promote public awareness and sensitivity about accessibility issues for persons with disabilities;
  • To encourage co-operation among all service and interest groups;
  • To communicate with all relevant levels of government and service agencies and make recommendations on policy and legislation;
  • To identify and document relevant issues and concerns;
  • To create a community which provides access to housing, transportation, education, recreation and employment;
  • To recognize that the needs of all persons are constantly changing, growing and in need of refinement.

Residents interested in applying are asked to submit, in writing or by email, an application including a resume by February 15, 4:00 p.m. to:

Chloe Senior, Clerk, County of Oxford
P.O. Box 1614, 21 Reeve St.
Woodstock, ON N4S 7Y3

Serving on a community board or committee can be immensely rewarding. But it also requires a great deal of commitment and passion. Volunteering on a committee is a great way to share your talents while helping set strategic direction for the future.
