Oxford County Paramedics offering COVID-19 rapid testing for symptomatic school-aged children

Rapid testing can be completed in 15 minutes with definitive results before patients leave the assessment centre

Oxford County Paramedic Services is offering a new COVID-19 rapid testing program to help increase access to testing in school-aged children. Supporting a timely and safe return to in-person learning, the program uses ID Now COVID-19 Analyzers which can perform a 15-minute test with definitive results received before patients leave the assessment centre.

Under current guidelines, a school-aged child with even a single symptom can result in the child as well as family members being required to self-isolate until negative test results are received. Now, though, with Oxford County Paramedics’ new COVID-19 rapid testing program, children can get back to school, and parents and guardians can get back to work sooner. Students with negative test results will still be required to follow return-to-school guidelines.

Testing appointments will be taken through Woodstock Hospital Assessment Centre and booked for testing onsite at Oxford County Paramedic Services – Mill St. Headquarters. The test involves a nasal swab performed by paramedics. Patients will receive proof of testing and test results before their departure.

Visit the Woodstock Hospital Assessment Centre’s website for more information on booking an appointment for COVID-19 rapid testing for school-aged children.
