Tillsonburg WWTP - Class Environmental Assessment Study
Oxford County is undertaking a Class Environmental Assessment to determine the most cost-effective, environmentally sound, and sustainable approach to providing wastewater servicing to accommodate future growth in the Town of Tillsonburg.
Oxford County owns and operates the Tillsonburg Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), which provides secondary treatment for wastewater generated in the Town of Tillsonburg. The Tillsonburg WWTP was originally constructed in 1961 and was later expanded in 1972. The plant consists of a conventional activated sludge (CAS) process, with chemical addition for phosphorus removal, ultraviolet disinfection, and onsite aerobic sludge digestion and thickening facilities. Flows to the plant are approaching the Certificate of Approval rated capacity, and growth in the service area is expected to increase flows beyond this capacity in the near future.
